The Terra State PTA program remains fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). CAPTE has been formally notified of the College’s plans for program resumption and future cohort offerings.

Planned Cohort Offerings

As part of a phased and intentional restart, Terra State anticipates offering two potential cohort pathways, subject to final approvals, application processes, and enrollment requirements:

  • Condensed / Articulated Cohort – Beginning in Fall 2026, Terra State is offering a condensed cohort option designed for a specific population of students who meet specific articulated or advanced standing criteria. This cohort is intended to support students with qualifying prior coursework or aligned academic preparation. Additional eligibility requirements and application details will be communicated on the webpage.
  • Traditional Cohort – A traditional PTA cohort, following the standard program sequence and admission process, is planned to begin in Fall 2027. This pathway will be open to students applying through the College’s regular PTA admissions process. Application for this cohort will be available on the PTA website in early 2027. Traditional students are encouraged to reach out to the program chair to start your general education courses to be set up for success as the cohort begins in 2027.

We encourage students interested in this program to regularly check this website for updates.

Contact Information: Terra State will continue to teach, support, and guide students during this transition. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to reach out to PTA Program Chair Brian Hall at bhall01@terra.edu or call 419.559.2185.

The Associate of Applied Science Degree Physical Therapist Assistant program prepares graduates for a career as a Physical Therapist Assistant. A physical therapist assistant performs a broad range of skilled clinical services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and in a variety of health settings, including hospital-based acute and outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation hospitals, privately owned outpatient clinics, and home health agencies. Physical therapist assistants administer the patient treatment and interventions as directed by the supervising physical therapist, collect measures and other patient-related data, progress the patient within the parameters established by the supervising physical therapist, and document the treatment appropriately.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). Graduates must pass the NPTE and a jurisprudence exam in order to become licensed as a physical therapist assistant in the state of Ohio. The jurisprudence exam is a test of the state’s laws and rules that pertain to physical therapy practice.
