LPN to RN Degree

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who have an active license, one year of nursing experience and are in good professional standing, may apply for advanced placement into the Nursing program. LPNs are required to complete the program prerequisite courses and general education courses. Upon completion of the program prerequisite courses with a grade of "C" or better, the LPN may apply for admission to the Nursing program. BIO 1230 and BIO 1235 must be completed prior to enrolling in NUR 1300, NUR 1305, and NUR 1303. BIO 1240 and BIO 1245 must be completed before second semester of the Nursing program. Upon successful completion of the following courses, NUR 1300, NUR 1305 and NUR 1303 with a "C" or better, the LPN will be given credit for the following Nursing courses: NUR 1160, NUR 1165, NUR 1163. Upon presentation of an active LPN license, the student will be awarded one credit hour of NUR 1150. With successful completion of the degree, the graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX examination for licensure as a registered nurse.

Program Admission Requirements

Official high school or GED and college/program transcripts (if applicable) submitted to the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services.
GPA of 2.8 or higher on all completed college-level coursework (includes transfer/transient courses). Must receive a grade of “C” or better in all nursing program general education courses, in a maximum of two attempts.
Science courses (Anatomy & Physiology & lab and Microbiology & lab) completed more than five years prior to application to the nursing program must be retaken.
Have completed Anatomy and Physiology I class and lab with a grade of C or better.
Have completed English Comp with a grade of C or better.
Have completed General Psychology with a grade of C or better.
Achieve ATI TEAS Exam score of PROFICIENT or ACT minimum 20 composite score within the last 3 years. Maximum of 2 attempts.
Applicants ranked on a point system. Admission decisions made based on total accumulated points.
Must complete Anatomy and Physiology II class and lab before the second semester of the Nursing program.
Active nursing license in good professional standing.
One year work experience as an LPN within the past five years, verified by employer.
