Lucy Gehring Named February Rotary Student of the Month

Fremont, Ohio, February 16, 2023 – Terra State Community College student Lucy Gehring has been named the College’s Rotary Student of the Month for February.
Gehring lives in Tiffin with her wife and family, graduated from Calvert High school in 2015, and was undecided on a career when she graduated and continued to be part of the workforce until she had a better understanding of what she wanted in a career.
In 2020, Gehring began working at Poklar Power Motion in the Cleveland area, which inspired her to want to have a career in marketing. “I knew this was something I enjoyed doing for work, and I decided I wanted to get my degree in marketing. I knew I wanted to attend Terra because it would allow me to keep an even work/life balance by attending most of my classes online and completing classes on a part-time schedule. I have enjoyed my seated classes, as well, because they are small and allow interaction between students and professors,” said Gehring.
Outside class, she recently joined the Josh Minton Foundation board, which supports individuals and families affected by cancer and military service. She also volunteered for Seneca Proud, which helped with Tiffin’s first Pride event in the summer of 2022.
Her nominator Ryan Bowers, Associate Professor of Marketing, regards Gehring as a team leader for group assignments in class. “She is very willing to put the work in to not only do her part but go the extra mile to help include her peers,” says Bowers.
“I will take everything I have learned about marketing not only a product or service, but yourself. Regardless of your industry, our personal brand expresses our qualities and what makes us stand out as individuals. Going to college while working in my field of study has been beneficial because I have been able to apply what I’m learning to things I do at work every day.”, Gehring.
After her spring of 2023 graduation, Gehring wants to take on more responsibility at Poklar Power Motion and hopes to grow more in the position.
