erra State Community College student Skyler Weaver has been named the College’s Rotary Student of the Month for January.
Skyler lives in Walbridge with his family. He graduated from Lake High School in 2021, where he founded the speech and debate club.
Skyler chose Terra State because the music program was going through exciting changes, and he was excited to pursue opportunities within this culture of change.
Outside class, Weaver dedicates his time to Tri-M, a student music group that introduces elementary school kids to music. He also helps put together stages and music equipment for Walbridge Fest and runs a tutoring program at his local library.
His nominator, James Willis, Director of Music, regards Skyler as a consistent student who is constantly learning and exhibiting growth. “Skyler not only helps his classmates in his classes, but as a second-year music student, he is always encouraging to the first-year students. He is a very reliable team member always helping to set up for music events on and off campus.”
“An experience I will take away from Terra State will be working with professionals in the industry, discussing with my peers to further our knowledge and experience, and the mentorship of my professors; all will culminate in a great foundation for myself to jump into my career, “said Weaver.
After his graduation, Weaver wants to make music, record music, teach other’s music and otherwise participate in this era of monetized cultural creations.
