What is Marketing?

The evolving field of marketing is a blend of knowing who the customer or audience is and how to reach them effectively. From market research to sales management, if you enjoy working with data and trends while learning the habits of consumers, this could be the career path for you.

Students in this program learn to employ professional and human relations skills that are necessary in working with both business clients and personal consumers. They also apply and analyze marketing concepts for an organization in a given business environment. Sales Managers

Sales managers direct organizations' sales teams. They set sales goals, analyze data, and develop training programs for organizations’ sales representatives.

The median annual wage for sales managers was $121,060 in May 2017.

Employment of sales managers is projected to grow 7 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Employment growth of these managers will depend primarily on growth or contraction in the industries that employ them.

Advertising, Promotions, and Marketing Managers

Advertising, promotions, and marketing managers plan programs to generate interest in products or services. They work with art directors, sales agents, and financial staff members.

The median annual wage for advertising and promotions managers was $106,130 in May 2017. The median annual wage for marketing managers was $132,230 in May 2017.

Overall employment of advertising, promotions, and marketing managers is projected to grow 10 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. Advertising, promotions, and marketing campaigns will continue to be essential for organizations as they seek to maintain and expand their share of the market.
